Qatar participates in ministerial event on 'Call to Action for Palestinian Children in West Bank and Gaza'

Qatar joined a high-level ministerial event titled "Call to Action for Palestinian Children in the West Bank and Gaza" on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Dr Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad, Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation, represented the nation at the gathering. She emphasized Qatar's unwavering support for the principles outlined in the call to action, which call for a ceasefire, respect for international law, and an end to grave violations against children.

Dr al-Misnad highlighted the dire situation faced by Palestinian children in the West Bank and Gaza, noting the barriers to accessing safe education due to displacement, insecurity, damaged facilities, and restricted freedom of movement. She stressed that the international community must take urgent action to protect children and ensure accountability for those responsible.

Qatar has prioritized children's welfare by contributing to humanitarian efforts and signing an agreement with the United Nations to supply 1.3 million liters of fuel to the Gaza Strip, aimed at supporting vital health services and humanitarian operations.

The minister affirmed Qatar's steadfast commitment to supporting children worldwide through various humanitarian and development initiatives, particularly in conflict-affected areas. She praised the work of the Doha-based Analysis and Communication Centre of the Office of the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, which facilitates research, cooperation, and capacity-building efforts to protect children in conflict zones.

Dr al-Misnad reiterated Qatar's strong support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to an independent state based on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution.
