Qatar participates in "Delivering Social Rights, Renewing Democracy: From Doha and Chisinau to a New Democratic Pact for Europe" side event

New York, USA - Qatar took part in a high-level side event at the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The event, titled "Delivering Social Rights, Renewing Democracy: From Doha and Chisinau to a New Democratic Pact for Europe," focused on the role of international cooperation in advancing social justice and sustainable development.

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by HE Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Director of the International Organizations Department. In her address, Sheikha emphasized the importance of multilateral action, highlighting Qatar's commitment to supporting it.

She noted that Qatar's hosting of the Second World Summit for Social Development demonstrated this dedication. The summit, according to Sheikha, helped renew the global commitment to putting people at the center of the development process, promoting social justice, solidarity, and international cooperation.

She also stressed that the Doha Political Declaration, which emerged from the summit, serves as a vital framework to guide international efforts in translating commitments into concrete actions. This, Sheikha explained, is crucial for accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and ensuring no one is left behind in the pursuit of development and social justice.
