PPP rejects opposition’s long march to Islamabad

Islamabad: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has rejected the opposition's plan to conduct a long march from Peshawar to Islamabad on September 27, urging both the government and opposition to prioritize the well-being of citizens and avoid political confrontations. The party's Secretary General, Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, stated that frequent marches severely disrupt the lives of ordinary people, regardless of whether such protests occur on May 9 or November 26.

Bukhari emphasized that political clashes, even at the cost of the country and its people, are unacceptable. He urged the government and opposition to show mercy to the people and resolve their differences through dialogue, rather than resorting to confrontation or force. Bukhari stressed that political issues cannot be resolved through violence or agitation, and must be addressed through negotiations and democratic means.

He also expressed concern over the rising petroleum prices in Pakistan, noting that despite declining international prices, domestic petrol prices continue to increase, making life difficult for the poor. Bukhari demanded that the government take effective measures to provide relief to the public, as the Constitution provides a framework for cooperation between the federal government and the provinces when necessary.

Mr Bukhari concluded by stating that the political challenges in Pakistan should be addressed through dialogue, the Constitution, and parliamentary procedures, rather than by breaking out of prison or resorting to violence.
