Pos Malaysia scales up electric logistics fleet, one in three parcels delivered by EV

Pos Malaysia has increased its electric logistics fleet to the point where one-third of all parcels are now delivered by electric vehicles (EVs). The company operates 1,585 EVs across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak, making it Malaysia's largest electric logistics fleet. This fleet consists of 1,253 electric motorcycles and 332 electric vans.

Since 2023, the fleet has traveled 28.8 million kilometers and has helped avoid approximately 3,881 tonnes of CO2e emissions through fleet electrification. Pos Malaysia's group chief executive officer, Charles Brewer, emphasized that fleet electrification is a crucial aspect of the company's sustainability and decarbonisation journey.

The company aims to achieve 100% green deliveries by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050. Pos Malaysia's fleet electrification program integrates vehicles, infrastructure, data, and people to improve route efficiency, driver safety, fleet utilization, and performance. The company's telematics-equipped vehicles generate operational data that helps optimize routes, enhance driver safety, increase fleet utilization, and facilitate continuous performance improvement.

A Sustainability Impact Case Study by the United Nations Global Compact Network Malaysia, Brunei, and Cambodia (UNGCMBC) highlights Pos Malaysia's use of vehicle electrification, charging infrastructure, telematics, capital planning, and workforce readiness in its nationwide delivery network.
