Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson called India the benchmark for Pakistani cricket fans amid multiple defeats against the arch-rivals, according to video footage. Hesson admitted that Pakistan's T20I team has lost to India on four occasions in the last 15 months, which has been a major concern among fans. He stated that the team has moved up in the T20 rankings, going from eighth to fifth in the world over the same period.
Hesson also noted that the team has won series in Pakistan and overseas, including Dubai and the USA. He emphasized the need to assess the team's performance in the three formats separately, acknowledging that the Test team is struggling while the ODI side is developing ahead of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027.
