Obsidian's "creative identity and strengths" will remain intact, promises Bethesda, as it takes control of Fallout: New Vegas studio

Xbox's massive reorganization has seen Obsidian Entertainment become part of Bethesda's group. Despite this major change in corporate structure, Bethesda's president, Jill Braff, has assured that the studio's creative identity and strengths will stay intact. This follows Xbox's recent massive layoffs, which included 1,600 workers and the termination of five first-party developers.

Obsidian, which was originally under Xbox Game Studios, is now under Bethesda. This move has sparked some concern among fans, who worry that Obsidian might be reduced to a mere support studio. However, Braff has put these fears to rest, stating that the studio's unique identity and strengths will remain at its core. The studio, currently developing a new Fallout game with Bethesda Game Studios, will continue to lead the Fallout franchise alongside Bethesda Game Studios.

This arrangement supports the franchise-led model that Xbox has been emphasizing, while ensuring clear accountability for both the studio and the franchise.
