NFR Strengthens Cleanliness, Sanitation and Public Participation under Swachhata Hi Sewa

As part of the Swachhata Hi Sewa - 2026 campaign running from September 17th to October 2nd, 2026, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is conducting targeted cleanliness and sanitation efforts at railway stations, facilities, and educational institutions. Volunteers including railway officials, Safai Mitras, students, Scouts & Guides, and passengers are enthusiastically engaging in these initiatives, demonstrating a collective commitment to maintaining cleanliness and environmental protection.

A major emphasis of the campaign is environmental cleanliness and the preservation of water bodies. NFR Bharat Scouts & Guides members are actively participating in riverbank cleaning drives, particularly along the Brahmaputra River. These volunteers assist in keeping riverbank areas clean while raising awareness about the importance of water body conservation and public space maintenance.

The campaign also targets specific areas requiring attention, such as Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) and Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) at various railway stations. Safai Mitras are conducting thorough clean-up operations in approach roads, track-side zones, and other designated locations to ensure hygienic conditions. Additionally, the maintenance of drinking water facilities and the cleaning of water tanks are prioritized across railway stations and establishments.

Regular cleaning and upkeep of water tanks, coupled with accessible drinking water for passengers, railway staff, and other users, are essential components of the sanitation measures.

The "Swachh Paathshala" initiative plays a crucial role by conducting awareness programs at railway schools, educating students about cleanliness, personal hygiene, sanitation, waste segregation, and responsible waste disposal. Interactive activities like art competitions and quizzes on Swachhata and water conservation further enhance participation and awareness.

Swachhata Pledges are administered at numerous railway stations, involving railway officials, Safai Mitras, and passengers in the commitment to maintaining cleanliness and responsible practices.

These comprehensive efforts are reinforcing the Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 campaign by promoting environmental responsibility, public welfare, and community involvement. Through these coordinated initiatives, NFR is fostering greater awareness about hygiene, waste management, and water conservation, while encouraging individuals to integrate cleanliness into their daily routines.
