NASA Welcomes Croatia as Newest Artemis Accords Signatory

NASA has officially welcomed Croatia as its newest member of the Artemis Accords on Wednesday, during a ceremony held in Zagreb. This marks the country as the 74th signatory to the Artemis Accords.

NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson expressed his pride in the new partnership, stating that joining the accords opens new opportunities for the United States and Croatia to work together in space exploration beyond Earth.

Croatia's Minister of Science, Education, and Youth, Radovan Fuchs, signed the agreement on behalf of the country. He highlighted the growing interest in the space industry among Croatian scientists and companies, and how joining the Artemis Accords can lead to new technology introductions and economic growth.

Croatia's first satellite, CroCube, was successfully launched on December 21, 2024, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. This achievement showcases the country's growing technological capabilities and interest in space collaboration.

Established in 2020 by NASA, the U.S. Department of State, and seven other founding nations, the Artemis Accords aim to enhance transparency, safety, and coordination among nations exploring the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The Accords commit signatories to explore peaceably, render aid to those in need, enable access to scientific data, and preserve historic sites and artifacts.
