Musk praises China’s leadership and pushes for AI regulation ahead of state dinner

General Assembly, argued that the term "artificial" gives AI an artificial, fake appearance. Therefore, to better represent AI, Trump suggested rebranding it as "Super Intelligence."

This name change, however, is not the most crucial aspect of AI development. Another major player in the AI arena is China, under President Xi Jinping. Xi prioritized open-source development, human control, accessibility, and international rule-making for AI in his speech at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.

China not only spoke about these priorities but also took steps to implement potential solutions, demonstrating a commitment to addressing these issues that surpass Trump's fixation on the term used to describe AI. While China's governance of information and speech is contentious, its efforts to build international standards and promote equitable access to AI technology are significant.

In contrast, Trump's administration has published a comprehensive AI Action Plan, but the focus on rebranding AI seems less critical compared to China's broader approach to AI governance. Ultimately, while the name of AI may matter to some, the real challenge lies in determining who holds the power to shape the future of this transformative technology.
