MoMo Fintech Lab attracts close to 1K entries from innovators across, applications end on Sept 30

MobileMoney Fintech Ltd (MMFL) has received over 990 submissions from innovators across Ghana for the 2026 MoMo Fintech Lab, indicating a strong interest in developing practical solutions for Ghana's digital financial services sector. Applications remain open until September 30. The nationwide innovation program aims to identify, mentor and support innovators in transforming technology-driven ideas into commercially viable solutions that address daily challenges, improve financial access and bolster Ghana's digital economy.

Of the 990 entries received, 56% are focused on Everyday Payments and Financial Access, the largest among the four innovation tracks. Business and Merchant Growth Tools account for 17%, Trust, Security and Digital Identity for 15%, and Future of Finance and Connected Ecosystems for 12%. The entries vary in development stage: 374 (37.8%) are at the concept stage, 341 (34.4%) at the idea stage, 156 (15.8%) as prototypes, and 119 (12.0%) as minimum viable products (MVPs).

Regionally, Accra accounts for 63% of entries, Kumasi for 26%, and Tamale for 11%. Shaibu Haruna, CEO of MobileMoney Fintech LTD, expressed his enthusiasm about the response, stating that it demonstrates Ghana's innovative talent and a strong interest in addressing real-world challenges. The program, coordinated with the Bank of Ghana and supported by various ecosystem partners, will offer selected participants zonal bootcamps, hackathons, mentorship, and a National Demo Day with a chance to win up to GHS100,000 and other support to develop their solutions.
