Minister of State for Foreign Affairs meets several officials on margins of 81st UNGA

Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tone Kajzer spoke at a press conference in Kyiv, highlighting the impact of Russia's aggression on his country. He compared Russia's war against Ukraine to Slovenia's own Ten-Day War for independence in 1991, where the Yugoslav army sought to capture and punish Slovenia's leadership. During his first visit to Ukraine as Minister, Kajzer discussed his country's support for Ukraine's resistance to Russia and the importance of cooperation between the two nations.

Kajzer emphasized that Russia's war affects Slovenia in various ways, including attacks on critical infrastructure, disinformation campaigns, and the labeling of Slovenia as an unfriendly state. To counter these threats, Slovenia has focused on strengthening its defence potential through cooperation with Ukraine, particularly in the areas of drones, ammunition, software, and satellite navigation.

The drone deal is particularly beneficial for Slovenia, as it helps address NATO's defense deficits and allows Slovenia to add to its own defence capabilities.

Kajzer also spoke about the construction of shelters for civilians and the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers, both of which are part of Slovenia's humanitarian efforts in support of Ukraine. These initiatives are supported by various international organizations and are aimed at providing hope and stability to those affected by the conflict.
