Melaka polls: Pakatan candidates to be announced one to two weeks ahead of nomination, says PM’s pol-sec

ALOR GAJAH, Sept 23 — The Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, has revealed that Pakatan Harapan (PH) is scheduled to unveil its candidates for the upcoming Melaka state election one to two weeks prior to the nomination day. Azman explained that this advance announcement would enable the party to commence preparations in advance of the final decision.

"We have taken the time to prepare thoroughly this time," he stated to reporters after meeting beneficiaries under the Ziarah Kasih program in Kuala Linggi state constituency. Azman informed that the selection of candidates would be determined by the party leadership, considering inputs from party divisions, state leaders, and grassroots members before reaching a conclusive decision.

Earlier, Azman had visited seven individuals participating in the Ziarah Kasih program, which includes a single mother with two children who sustained injuries in a road accident and is currently unable to work. The government program provided financial aid from the Prime Minister’s Department, along with additional support such as wheelchairs or other necessary assistance for eligible recipients.

The Ziarah Kasih program is one of the initiatives undertaken by the Political Secretary's Office, with plans to extend its reach to other areas in Melaka, including the Jasin parliamentary constituency next week.
