Madlanga Commission ruling on Sindane’s postponement due Friday

The ruling on Oupa "Bafana" Sindane's application to postpone his appearance before the Madlanga Commission will be announced on Friday. Advocate Matthew Chaskalson, who led the evidence, contended that Sindane's urgent request to halt his appearance at the commission was not justified and that he had caused the delay himself. Chaskalson argued that pending court proceedings did not constitute a valid reason for postponement, especially as the court process itself could be dismissed due to lack of urgency.

He also pointed out that the commission's schedule was already packed and that additional delays could hinder its progress. Chaskalson emphasized that the commission's timetable is tight and that they cannot accommodate more time for witnesses who are unwilling to cooperate without risking missing their deadlines.
