M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026: Gautam Adani reclaims top spot from Mukesh Ambani in M3M Hurun India Rich List

The M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026 has confirmed that Gautam Adani has reasserted his position as India's wealthiest individual, surpassing Mukesh Ambani. Adani's net worth has climbed to a staggering Rs 9.23 lakh crore ($96 billion), marking a 13% increase. Conversely, Ambani's wealth has decreased to Rs 8.63 lakh crore ($90 billion), a 10% drop.

This list, compiled by Hurun India in partnership with M3M estate developers, recognizes 1,810 individuals with a net worth of Rs 1,000 crore or more, a 128-person rise compared to the previous year and 803 more than in the last five years. The collective wealth of these individuals totals Rs 187.5 lakh crore ($1.96 trillion), which constitutes approximately half of India's GDP.

India currently boasts 391 dollar billionaires across more than 106 cities, with 76 new billionaires added this year, including 51 residing within India itself. Self-made entrepreneurs have once again been the driving force behind wealth creation, accounting for a record 1,266 people, or 70% of the total list, up from 55% five years ago.

Mumbai leads in terms of listers with 465, followed by New Delhi with 236 and Bengaluru with 129. This year, artificial intelligence has been recognized as a unique sector for the first time, featuring 19 entrants with a combined wealth of Rs 3.07 lakh crore, with 15 of these AI sector entrants being new additions to the list.
