Landowner petitions IGP over police handling of Teshie-Manet land dispute

Habib Musah Adams, a businessman involved in the Teshie-Manet land dispute, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno. The petition, dated September 14, seeks an independent review of several police interventions at the disputed property opposite T.B. Joshua Church. Adams has held the 1.49-acre parcel since 2012, and began fencing and securing it in early 2026.

Police interventions at the site began in July 2026, with incidents involving the arrest of workers and demolition of structures. Adams alleges that on July 14, officers from the Regional Police Headquarters arrested one of his workers after halting construction activities. On July 15, the Anti-Land Guard Unit arrested six more workers.

On September 9, a police officer arrested a machine operator involved in demolition activities, but the situation changed after additional officers arrived. Adams wants the IGP to investigate the circumstances surrounding these interventions and identify the officers who authorized them. The businessman also seeks a review of the arrest and prosecution of 11 tradesmen, and wants to know the identity and role of a person called "Mboma."

The Ghana Police Service is a defendant in the underlying civil case involving Adams, and an interim injunction was granted on July 30, restraining parties from entering or carrying out activities on the land.
