Kit Harington Explains Why He Was ‘Fully Supportive’ of HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Before Gilderoy Lockhart Casting

During a Monday appearance on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Kit Harington, known for his role in "Game of Thrones," shared his full support for HBO's "Harry Potter" TV adaptation. Prior to joining the show's cast, Harington had been a fan of the "Harry Potter" book series, even listening to the Stephen Fry audio books to help him fall asleep at night.

He expressed his excitement about the series, stating that he believed the show could delve deeper into the story than the films did. Harington was confident about the project, saying, "I think that’s a brilliant idea. I think they can really delve into it further than the films did." When asked about his character, Gilderoy Lockhart, Harington jokingly admitted he was still working on Lockhart's appearance, emphasizing that the character development was ongoing.

Harington, who previously voiced Lockhart in "Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Edition," confirmed that the show, despite some controversy surrounding the actors' differing views on certain issues, was on track to become a hit for HBO, with Season 2 set to begin production this fall.
