JustGO toll payment system at Penang Bridge

The digital toll payment system JustGO can now be used at Penang Bridge, bringing it into the fold of other highway locations operated by PLUS Malaysia Bhd that support toll payments through automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. Zairil Khir Johari, a state executive councillor, revealed that registered JustGO users can now drive through the toll plaza without selecting specific lanes.

With the ANPR system in place, the registration number of the vehicle is automatically detected, and toll transactions are processed using the linked payment card within the JustGO app. According to Zairil, the state government believes that ANPR technology will help improve traffic flow at toll plazas by reducing the dependence on physical payment methods.

Notably, while the JustGO feature LaneFreedom allows users to utilize any available toll lane at Penang Bridge, the system is currently only accessible at RFID lanes marked with a red circle at the Bandar Cassia toll plaza. Users born and residing in Penang, who register through the JustGO system, will also receive a 20% discount on toll fees at Penang Bridge.
