Judge skeptical of White House press ban on Politico, MS NOW, CNN: Due process 'wasn't followed'

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump held a brief meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly Leaders Reception, discussing shipbuilding cooperation among other topics, according to a White House official. The 30-minute meeting took place during the U.N. General Assembly this week.

In response to a query from the Yonhap News Agency, the official clarified that the leaders had delved into key issues, including Seoul's ambition to acquire nuclear-powered submarines and secure rights for peaceful nuclear activities. President Trump's interest in shipbuilding cooperation was evident, as the Trump administration aims to bolster cooperation with South Korea for the revitalization of the U.S. Navy and shipbuilding sector.

Under a bilateral trade agreement signed last year, South Korea has committed to investing $350 billion in the U.S., with $150 billion earmarked for shipbuilding. During the meeting, Trump reiterated his intention to resume dialogue with North Korea. The leaders also deliberated on the transfer of wartime operational control to Seoul from Washington.
