Johor entrepreneur turns RM8,000 into unmanned used clothing store

Johor entrepreneur Mohd Idham Zamzuri has turned RM8,000 into a successful unmanned used clothing store in Kampung Melayu Majidee. Utilizing small retail spaces, cashless payment systems, and CCTV monitoring, Mohd Idham created an efficient, low-cost business model that allows customers to make purchases on their own.

The 10x10 foot space is equipped with QR codes for payment and CCTV cameras for monitoring, with every item displaying price tags and product information to assist customers. Mohd Idham, who started his entrepreneurial journey at 19 with a capital of RM300, explained that about 80% of the items sold at the store are priced under RM100. He also offers "combo" deals, such as two pieces for RM50 or three for RM100, to encourage quicker stock turnover.

Daily, Mohd Idham commutes between Pasir Gudang and Majidee to inspect the store and restock items twice a week. He emphasized that the unmanned store concept can be applied to other sectors to reduce operating costs without compromising customer comfort. Customers, such as Ghazali Md Rawi, agree that the self-service model provides clear access to product information and enables hassle-free payments.
