Iran’s President rejects ‘terrorist state’ allegations at UNGA

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has rebuffed claims that his nation is a terrorist state during the United Nations General Assembly, instead asserting that Iran is the victim of terrorism and military aggression. His remarks come as tensions have risen in the Middle East following a series of conflicts and aggressive actions between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Pezeshkian specifically accused the United States and Israel of carrying out attacks that resulted in the deaths of Iranian civilians, including children, emphasizing that Iran has only responded in self-defense. He stated, "The United States President described us as terrorists. We have been the victims of terrorism." Pezeshkian recounted the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader without any legal basis, as well as a bombing of a school, both of which he claimed were carried out by the United States and Israel using weapons supplied to them.

He highlighted the innocence of the children who perished in these attacks, saying, "You saw those children? The children perished under bombs, with weapons used by the United States and Israel. They were innocent. They had committed no crimes."
