Indian Medical Parliamentarians’ Forum Organises National Policy Summit On 'Swasth Bharat Se Saksham Bharat' To Reimagine MedTech Access In India

Vapi, Gujarat, September 22, 2026: The Indian Medical Parliamentarians’ Forum (IMPF) hosted the National Policy Summit on MedTech Access at Meril Academy, Vapi, with the aim to reimagine access to medical technology in India. Representatives from various government departments, healthcare institutions, experts in clinical practice and industry leaders gathered to discuss strengthening the country's medical technology ecosystem and enhancing patient access to advanced, affordable and quality healthcare technologies.

The summit featured panel discussions led by Dr Anil Sukhdeorao Bonde, Dr Shivaji Bandappa Kalge, Dr Vibhav Garg, Dr Jashvantsinh Parmar, Dr Sharmila Sarkar, Dr Gaurav Shanker Pradhan and Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav. They focused on building a sustainable and globally competitive MedTech ecosystem and expanding access to quality care through MedTech innovation.

Dr Anil Sukhdeorao Bonde, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Chairperson, IMPF, emphasized the importance of combining innovation with patient access. According to him, "Innovation without access has limited impact, and access without evidence cannot be sustained." Dr Manoj Kumar Joshi, Co-Chair and Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, stressed the need for a strong ecosystem built around quality, evidence and credibility, including strengthening domestic supply chains and engineering capabilities.

Dr Prashant P. Joshi, emphasized the role of healthcare institutions in advancing medical technology, advocating for stronger collaboration between medical and engineering institutions. Dr Gaurav Shanker Pradhan highlighted the importance of moving from an equipment-centric approach to a technology adoption model, with competency-based training for healthcare professionals. Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, addressed the role of sustainable financing and reimbursement in making medical technologies accessible to patients.
