Here’s everything new for Apple Calendar in iOS 27

iOS 27 has introduced a host of new features for Apple's Calendar app. One of the most anticipated additions is the natural language input, also known as "Smart Event Details." This feature, powered by Apple Intelligence, allows users to input events in their own words, and Apple Intelligence will automatically fill in the title, time, location, and invitees. This functionality applies to both events and reminders. Users have the option to toggle this feature off in Settings if they prefer a more manual approach.

Calendar's design has also been revamped in iOS 27. When an event is tapped, it now appears in a card overlay with a new design. Event options have been reorganized and given icons to enhance visual clarity. The creation and editing of events have also been updated with a refreshed look, similar to the event details.

Another significant update is the addition of a free/busy option for iCloud events, which was previously absent. This feature, available for iCloud calendars like Google calendars, indicates whether a user is busy or free for a specific event.

In terms of widgets, iOS 27 supports extra-large widgets for the Home Screen and Today view. These widgets can be set up in the 'List' and 'Up Next' formats, providing more space to display events and reminders. This feature is particularly beneficial on large-screen devices like the iPhone Duo.

The upgrades for Siri AI in iOS 27 have also been noteworthy. Siri now possesses onscreen awareness, understands personal context, and is overall more intelligent and capable. This enhancement makes Siri a more effective tool for managing the calendar. Users have reported relying on Siri more frequently for handling events and reminders in iOS 27.

Lastly, a new visual intelligence button is introduced in the event creation screen. This button allows users to scan an event flyer using the new Siri mode in the Camera app. Siri then creates a new event using the details extracted from the flyer.
