GTBank supports paediatric cancer care with donation of medical equipment to Ridge Hospital

Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana (GTBank) has donated medical equipment to the Paediatric Oncology Unit at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital in Ridge-Accra, Ghana. This donation is part of the bank's ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and improving outcomes for children undergoing cancer treatment.

The donated items include four recliner chairs for outpatient chemotherapy, ten chemotherapy spill kits, five extended-cuff nitrile gloves, four Benefusion UVP infusion pumps, two syringe pumps, and ten Central Line compound and normal kits. The bank presented these items to the unit's management during a ceremony held on September 11, 2026.

GTBank's donation aims to bolster the unit's capacity to deliver quality and timely care to paediatric oncology patients. The equipment is expected to create a more comfortable environment for healthcare professionals and the children and families they serve.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Agnes Owusu-Afram, the Divisional Head of Corporate Communication and Experience at GTBank, emphasized the bank's belief that healthcare institutions play a critical role in improving the quality of life for children and their families battling cancer. The bank's donation reflects their commitment to supporting initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact in the healthcare sector.

The Head of the Paediatric Oncology Unit, Dr. Nihad Salifu, expressed gratitude to GTBank for the donation, stating that the equipment will significantly support the unit's work and benefit the children receiving care. Dr. Charlyne Kilba, the Head of the Department of Child Health and Paediatric Intensivist, highlighted the importance of the donation, pointing out that the recliner chairs will ensure children are more relaxed and comfortable during chemotherapy, while the infusion pumps will enable precise dosing.

The donation is part of GTBank Ghana's broader Corporate Social Investment initiatives, through which the bank supports various interventions in healthcare, education, community development, and other areas contributing to sustainable social development.
