GRA’s ITAS and other digital platforms set to strengthen tax compliance

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is set to enhance tax compliance through its Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) and other digital initiatives. GRA Commissioner Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya stated that ITAS is a unified platform for the entire tax cycle, replacing outdated legacy systems with a modern, integrated framework.

ITAS will standardize processes across GRA offices and allow for efficient taxpayer accounting, compliance, risk management, audits, objections, exemptions, refund processing, debt management, and investigations.

With ITAS, taxpayers will benefit from self-service account activation, digital submissions, automated workflows, online tracking, and reduced manual delays. The system will also be integrated with several national databases and platforms, including the Integrated Customs Management System, the Office of the Registrar of Companies, SSNIT, the Bank of Ghana, Ghana.gov, the Lands Commission, and the National Identification Authority.

Beyond ITAS, GRA is implementing e-invoicing to digitize invoice issuance and validation, a Sentinel project to improve taxation of digital transactions, and a Modified Taxation Scheme for informal sector taxpayers with lower turnover. GRA aims to streamline processes, reduce paperwork, and improve service delivery through these digital initiatives.
