Google expands Vids access with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash for free

Google has extended access to its video creation platform, Google Vids, enabling users with a Google or Google Workspace account to generate high-definition videos at no charge, utilizing the Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model. The service is accessible through vids.new on desktop computers, where users can initiate the creation of AI-generated videos.

Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash boasts several capabilities, such as seamless scene extension with consistent visual context, lighting, character appearance, and environmental coherence. Users have the ability to specify clip durations and produce full 1080p HD video scenes or upscale existing AI-generated clips.

The platform caters to a wide array of applications, from personal side projects and product launches by new businesses, to promotional videos for local enterprises and marketing teams creating content for landing pages and social media announcements. Community organizers can also leverage the platform to disseminate information about local events.

Google Vids includes a library of pre-designed video templates, eliminating the necessity for manual video editing. Each clip generated using the Omni 1.1 model incorporates a SynthID digital watermark in the video frames, which remains undetectable to viewers but provides proof of AI generation.

Google has plans to incorporate Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite text-to-speech functionality into Google Vids in the near future. This feature will enable users to convert scripts into natural-sounding voiceovers in more than 100 languages. Moreover, enhanced access to AI video generation is available through Google AI plans for personal accounts, while Workspace Business and Enterprise plans offer extended generation capabilities and centralized administrative controls.
