GCIOBA, ipNX Partner to Digitally Transform Government College Ibadan Through CSR

The Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) has collaborated with ipNX Nigeria Limited to launch a comprehensive digital connectivity initiative at Government College Ibadan (GCI). This project aims to provide over 2,250 students and staff members with high-quality broadband internet access. The initiative, spearheaded by GCIOBA's North America branch and implemented by ipNX under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, seeks to enhance digital learning, boost teaching, and improve access to educational resources at the public secondary school.

A key component of the project includes the deployment of a fibre backbone connecting 29 buildings across the campus, coupled with enterprise-grade wireless connectivity within each building. This setup aims to establish a resilient digital ecosystem that supports various aspects of the school, such as teaching, learning, research, and efficient administration.

By implementing these digital solutions, the project is designed to facilitate the adoption of future-ready educational resources and prepare students for the demands of a digital economy.

The announcement of this partnership was made during the 2026 GCIOBA Lagos branch annual luncheon. The GCIOBA President, Olawale Babalakin, emphasized the association's commitment to ensuring that students at Government College Ibadan have access to the necessary tools and learning environment to compete globally. Babalakin highlighted that preserving the institution's legacy requires preparing the students for tomorrow's world, stating that ipNX is a partner that shares its vision and possesses the necessary expertise to deliver the project.

Ejovi Aror, the Group Managing Director of ipNX Nigeria Limited, described the initiative as a long-term investment in Nigeria's future, stressing that digital infrastructure is foundational to modern education. Aror emphasized that this partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring students have the necessary connectivity and technology to learn, innovate, and succeed in an increasingly digital world.

The luncheon ceremony also honored two distinguished alumni of the college, the late Dr Burian Carew and the late Dr Blackie Aror, with posthumous merit awards for their significant contributions to Nigeria's technology and educational development.
