Former IGB REIT CEO Elizabeth Tan's passing a great loss

Elizabeth Tan Hui Ning, the former Chief Executive Officer of IGB REIT Management Sdn Bhd, has passed away, marking a significant loss for the IGB Group. Tan, who was 42 years old, had spent over two decades in the IGB Group's property and retail operations. Born into the IGB Group dynasty, Tan was the daughter of IGB REIT Management executive chairman, Datuk Seri Robert Tan Chung Meng, and a significant unitholder in both IGB REIT and IGB Commercial REIT.

IGB REIT Management conveyed their deep condolences to Tan's family, including her father and sister Gabrielle Tan Hui Chween, and the wider family. The company extended its sympathies to all those who had worked closely with Tan.

Tan began her career with Mid Valley City Gardens Sdn Bhd in August 2004, following her graduation from Cardiff University with First Class Honours in Business Administration. She swiftly climbed the ranks, assuming roles such as head of operations and leasing, and eventually becoming an executive director in January 2011. Subsequently, she served as joint Chief Operating Officer and Head of Operations and Leasing for The Gardens Mall, where she managed day-to-day operations, leasing activities, and asset enhancement strategies.

In January 2024, Tan was appointed CEO of IGB REIT Management after the retirement of Antony Patrick Barragry. However, due to health issues, she stepped down from her position on March 19, 2025, with Antony Patrick Barragry taking on the role of acting CEO. Tan further resigned as an alternate director of IGB Bhd in January 2026, citing health concerns, according to a Bursa Malaysia filing.
