The Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission (FCT-CSC) and the Office of the Head of Service have launched a pre-retirement workshop for civil servants preparing to leave active service. The workshop, themed "How to Triumph in Retirement," aims to equip retiring public servants with strategies for a prosperous and purposeful post-service life.

The commission's chairman, Emeka Ezeh, emphasized the importance of preparing for the transition from government service to a fulfilling retirement. He urged participants to create concrete strategies that would transform their post-service years into a rewarding chapter. The initiative, marking the first collaboration between the FCT-CSC and the Office of the Head of Service, is in line with Section 7c(ii) of the FCT-CSC Establishment Act.

It aims to alleviate uncertainty and anxiety experienced by officers retiring between the ages of 60 and 65 who have devoted 35-40 years to service. Deputy Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Nathan, praised the retiring officers for their dedication and contributions, assuring them that their institutional knowledge and experience would continue to benefit the FCT.

She encouraged retirees to view retirement not as the end of their relevance, but as an opportunity for mentorship, community development, and entrepreneurship.
