FBI investigates hackers' claim to have stolen sensitive employee data, compromised jobs website

The FBI is investigating a criminal hacking group that claims to have stolen sensitive data belonging to thousands of FBI agents and applicants. The group, known as ShinyHunters, also alleged that it compromised the FBI's jobs website, FBIJobs.gov. ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for the hack and stated that they had stolen "very sensitive data" on almost all FBI agents and individuals who applied for jobs. The group threatened to release the stolen data unless the FBI corrected or removed certain claims in a May public advisory. The FBIJobs.gov website remained offline as of Wednesday afternoon.
