Expose sponsors of violence – Police Commissioner urges Taraba residents

Taraba State Police Commissioner Edwin Ogbegbagha has called upon residents of Sardauna Local Government Area to supply accurate and prompt information to assist law enforcement in identifying and arresting those responsible for recent violence. Ogbegbagha made this appeal while conducting an on-the-ground assessment of communities impacted by the recent crisis, which resulted in fatalities and property damage.

The assessment was carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Army's Brigade Commander and other security forces as part of the endeavor to gather firsthand details on the situation and engage key stakeholders in fostering lasting peace and security.

During the visit, the security team engaged extensively with stakeholders to reinforce security measures, enhance intelligence gathering, and ensure the continued protection of lives and property. Commissioner Ogbegbagha assured the public that security agencies are cooperating closely and remain dedicated to restoring peace and averting additional attacks in the affected areas.

He revealed that additional security personnel and improved aerial surveillance by the Nigeria Police Air Wing would be deployed, in accordance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to bolster security operations in the affected regions.

Ogbegbagha implored the residents to maintain calm, vigilance, and compliance with the law, providing them with the assurance that the police and other security agencies are taking the necessary steps to restore normalcy. He also implored the Taraba State Government, traditional leaders, community leaders, and the public to bolster their support and cooperation with the security forces.

According to the commissioner, lasting peace will only be attainable through collective responsibility, effective communication of information, and ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders. He reiterated the Taraba State Police Command's commitment to its constitutional duty of safeguarding lives and property, vowing to continue working alongside sister security agencies and the communities to ensure enduring peace and security across the state.
