Singapore-based shipping giant Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has received its latest LPG dual-fuel very large ammonia carrier (VLAC) from China's Jiangnan Shipyard. The vessel, named Lilac Cove, boasts a capacity of 93,000 cubic meters and is capable of operating on LPG as well as traditional marine fuels. Its versatility extends to carrying various LPG cargoes, including propane and butane, expanding its operational flexibility.
This is the second of six VLACs being constructed for EPS at Jiangnan Shipyard, following the delivery of the first vessel, Ivy Cove, in June. Currently, the global fleet of LPG-capable vessels stands at 179, with an additional 160 expected to enter service by 2030. Out of this fleet, 165 vessels are exclusively dedicated to LPG transport, while 14 vessels can handle both LPG and ammonia, according to classification society DNV.
