Efforts under way to secure screening clearance for all selected films at IDSFFK: Minister

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal paid a visit to the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru on September 16 amid controversy surrounding the screening of a documentary featuring jailed activist Umar Khalid. Following the meeting at NLSIU, a delegation from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Bengaluru presented a memorandum to Meghwal at Lok Bhavan, expressing concerns over the documentary's screening.

The ABVP demanded that the postponed screening be canceled, requested an inquiry into the organizers of similar events, and called for a high-level inquiry against the university administration for granting permission for the event. Additionally, they sought the provision of essential amenities and facilities for students by the university.

According to NLSIU students, the Minister had arrived for a pre-scheduled visit arranged by university staff and faculty affiliated with the Legal Services Clinic (LSC), even before the documentary controversy unfolded.
