ECG Receives GJA Award

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)'s Western Regional Office has been named the Most Responsive Utility Service Provider at the 2026 Western Regional Media and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Awards, organized by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA). The accolade recognized the office's dedication to addressing customer concerns and fostering effective communication with the public and media.

During the ceremony in Takoradi, themed "Reporting Progress, Investing in People," the GJA praised the Western Regional office for its prompt responses to issues such as power outages, prepaid meter installations, and billing problems. A significant factor was the office's partnership with the media, established via a WhatsApp platform, which allows journalists to report outages and obtain quick company responses.

Additionally, the maintenance team in Sekondi received praise for their commitment to restoring electricity supply, including an instance where they worked through rain to install transformers in Shama after prolonged outages. The recognition was met with applause from attendees who shared their experiences of ECG's responsiveness.

Benjamin Quarcoo, a former Western Regional Public Relations Officer, was also recognized for enhancing the company's image and relationships with the media and communities.
