Driver fined after blocking ambulance carrying critically ill monk

A driver has been fined for blocking an ambulance carrying a critically ill monk on a Bangkok Expressway, according to footage circulated on social media. The incident occurred on September 23, as reported by the Traffic Police Division. The footage showed the driver's white electric car remaining in the right lane and obstructing the path of a police convoy escorting the ambulance along Stage 2 Expressway, above Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.

Police stated that the car failed to move aside for the emergency vehicles, despite them traveling under emergency conditions. The driver was summoned to acknowledge a charge of failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, though the exact fine amount was not disclosed. Following the case, the Traffic Police Division spokesperson used the incident to warn motorists about their responsibility when encountering an emergency vehicle with flashing lights or an audible warning signal.

Drivers are advised to remain calm, reduce their speed, and move aside to let the emergency vehicle pass first, as even a second can make a difference in saving a life.
