Dow Jones, S&P 500, Nasdaq: Wall Street startet mit Verlusten – Warten auf Xi-Trump-Treffen

Investors delayed their moves to Wall Street mid-week, with major US indices barely moving at market open. The Dow Jones Industrial Average remained unchanged at 51,778 points. The broad S&P 500 index held onto the previous day's level at 7,750 counts. The tech-heavy Nasdaq slipped 0.3 percent to 27,155 points. The Nasdaq 100, representing the 100 largest non-financial companies by market capitalization, also fell about 0.3 percent to 30,628 counts.

The Nasdaq index reached a second consecutive record high on Wednesday. However, geopolitical uncertainties in Iran and rising oil prices weighed on investor sentiment on Wednesday. Initial concerns were eased by Saudi Arabia's announcement that it had resumed operating its East-West pipeline to the Red Sea, according to insiders.

However, Brent crude oil, used for November delivery, ended a five-day losing streak and rose around 2.3 percent, surpassing the $100 per barrel milestone. Amid rising diesel prices, the US government is considering a temporary export ban on fuel. US President Donald Trump mentioned this possibility during a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, stating that he had advocated for the measure for some time.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent added that the government is presently evaluating the feasibility of such a step, which could involve a partial or full export ban. The consequences of this move could impact Europe, as the United States has been a major diesel supplier to the continent in recent years.
