Dodgers score 5 two-out runs off Padres starter Michael King in 7-0 victory

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 7-0 on Tuesday night, scoring five runs with two outs. The Dodgers shut down Padres starter Michael King, who gave up five runs and six hits over four innings, his career-high 32nd start of the season. King's four-game winning streak ended in the contest. Los Angeles broke the game open with four runs in the second inning, following King's initial two outs on six pitches before loading the bases on singles by Teoscar Hernández and rookie Josue De Paula.

Freddie Freeman's two-run single extended the Dodgers' lead to 4-0, and Mookie Betts hit a ground-rule double and scored on Freeman's two-out single for a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning.

With two outs in the sixth, Edman hit a solo home run, and Smith followed with a 396-foot drive in the seventh inning, giving the Dodgers a 7-0 lead. Bullpen ace Brock Stewart started a game and Justin Wrobleski (12-5) was credited with the win for the Dodgers, marking the fifth shutout in franchise history when at least eight pitchers were used.

Edwin Díaz (12-5) struck out two in a single inning for the Dodgers. Roki Sasaki's fastball reached 100 mph during his one-inning appearance off the injured list earlier in the day after missing nearly a month with a blister on his right middle finger. The Padres will face Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (14-8, 2.51) in their next matchup on Wednesday.
