Disney Plus and Hulu Prices Go Up, With Ad-Free Plans Hit the Hardest

Disney Plus and Hulu have announced a $2 increase in their subscription prices, with the most significant hikes affecting premium ad-free plans. The Disney Plus-Hulu Premium bundle, which was $20 previously, will now cost $22 per month. Hulu Premium, which was $19, will jump to $21.49, while Disney Plus Premium will also rise to $21.49.

These price hikes are set to take effect on Wednesday for new subscribers, and existing subscribers will see the increase on their next bill. The priciest plan, Disney Plus, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited Bundle Premium, will retain its $45 monthly cost. Nonpremium subscriptions experienced a slightly smaller increase, rising by less than a dollar to $12.49, from $12.

The price hikes come a year after Disney's last price increase, marking the fourth time in four years that subscription prices have been raised for both Disney Plus and Hulu. Currently, the two platforms operate under separate apps; however, Disney has announced plans to launch a single app combining both services by the end of the year, as stated by outgoing CEO Bob Iger during the company's Q1 earnings call in February.

As of now, Disney Plus is ranked third among top streaming channels in the US, trailing Netflix and Amazon Prime. Combined with Hulu, which ranks sixth, they contribute nearly a quarter of all streams from subscription services.
