Damanko residents demand immediate commissioning of abandoned E-block

Residents of Damanko in Ghana's Oti Region are urgently demanding the completion of the E-Block Community Day Senior High School, a project that has languished since 2015 despite being near completion. The delay has left families in the area frustrated and disadvantaged, as children must now travel significant distances to access secondary education.

The petition has been addressed to key figures, including the District Chief Executive, Member of Parliament, and the Ministry of Education. The school, which was 95% complete before a change in government, remains unused and stands as a missed opportunity for the youth in the district. Assemblyman Kwabena Vincent emphasized that the completion of the E-Block is not only crucial for education but also a practical solution to alleviate the financial and emotional burden on families by providing a local school option.

Community members argue that the lack of progress over the years has reinforced their belief that the NDC is the party most likely to deliver the facility fully. They insist that the immediate completion of the school is non-negotiable, as leaving a nearly finished structure dormant for nearly a decade is unacceptable.
