Cubs' Bregman on the mend after getting struck in the face by a foul ball

Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman is recovering well after being struck in the face by a foul ball during a game on Sunday. The incident, which occurred in the on-deck circle, left Bregman with a discolored left eye and several facial fractures. Speaking ahead of a Wednesday night game against Miami, Bregman expressed gratitude for the fortunate nature of his injury, noting that it could have been worse had the ball hit a few centimeters higher.

The Cubs are relieved that Bregman's condition won't necessitate time on the injured list as the postseason approaches. While Bregman's left side of his face remains numb and continues to swell, Chicago manager Craig Counsell reported that his overall condition is good. Bregman, who is batting .262 with 26 homers and 89 RBIs in 153 games during his first season with Chicago, was hit by the foul ball in the fourth inning of a 9-1 win at Cincinnati.
