Ciryl Gane Claims Tom Aspinall Has a “Fragile Mentality” and Downplays Eye-Poke Impact

A week has passed since English heavyweight Tom Aspinall relinquished his UFC title, leaving his future uncertain. Aspinall disclosed on social media that a recurring injury to his right eye, following another surgery, had delayed his recovery. Originally scheduled to unify heavyweight belts against Ciryl Gane at UFC 334, Aspinall now faces an extended absence.

Gane, now the undisputed champion, is set to face Josh Hokit at UFC 334, but Gane has downplayed the impact of the eye poke that caused Aspinall’s injury. On Zack Nani TV, Gane accused Aspinall of having a "fragile mentality" and suggested the Englishman's reaction was disproportionate. Gane also recounted his own experience with an eye poke, claiming it wasn’t as severe as Aspinall portrayed.

Gane argued that Aspinall's public statements following the incident worked against him, and he felt Aspinall's complaints were excessive. Despite the controversy, Gane insists he has the right to his opinion, but his history of controversial tactics in the Octagon raises questions about his approach to the situation.
