Burnham, who visited New York on Monday, described the meeting as "very encouraging" and noted that they shared common ground on various issues, such as cost-of-living pressures, ending conflicts in the Middle East, and reindustrialising nations to spur economic growth.

The two leaders discussed AI, with Burnham highlighting its potential to bring significant benefits to the British and global economy. However, some disagreements remained, particularly over Britain's decision to cede sovereignty of the Chagos Islands. Burnham expressed confidence that they could resolve the issue with the US, while Trump also disagreed with Britain's stance on the Iran war and its decision to block imports from Israeli settlements.
