Chinese and Thai Poets Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

On Monday, September 21, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, the China Cultural Center in Bangkok, and the Writers' Association of Thailand co-hosted the "Chinese-Thai Poets Dialogue: Rejoicing in the Full Moon Across the World" at the China Cultural Center in Bangkok. The event marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, as well as the upcoming 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival.

Over 100 participants attended the dialogue, which began with a performance from the ASEAN Cultural Promotion Council and was officially opened by Yang Xiaolong, Cultural Counsellor of the People's Republic of China's Embassy in Thailand. Yang emphasized that China and Thailand share a "one family" concept, and poetry serves as a gentle yet powerful expression of this bond.

Juthamas Na Songkhla, Secretary-General of the Writers' Association of Thailand, highlighted the long history of cultural and literary exchange between the two nations, hoping the dialogue would lead to more mutual translation and collaborative creation. Nine poets, writers, and literary experts from China and Thailand participated in the event, engaging in discussions and poetry readings under the theme "When Poetry Meets: Thai-Chinese Poetic Voices Across the Frontiers of Language."

Topics included the development of poetry, distinctive approaches to poetic creation, literary expression, and the future of Chinese-Thai literary exchanges. Notable Thai poets included National Artists Chamaiporn Bangkombang and Saksiri Meesomsueb, while Chinese poets Liu Liu, Cheng Yong, and Zhang Huijun also took part.
