Chief justice rejects alleged procedural flaw in Supreme Court nomination

Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae on Wednesday rejected claims by the presidential office that a procedural flaw existed in the nomination of a top court justice. This came a day after Cho refused their request to recommend a new candidate following issues with his initial recommendation to President Lee Jae Myung. In response to media reports suggesting a procedural flaw, Cho stated that clear grounds and reasoning must be presented in the official document to avoid disputes and comply with the Constitution and law.

He emphasized that the issue lies with the lack of specific reasons or constitutional basis to comply with the request, calling the alleged flaw difficult to accept under constitutional and legal regulations.
