Braves Reinstate Two-Time All-Star Pitcher From Injured List Just In Time For Postseason

The Atlanta Braves have reinstated two-time All-Star pitcher Robert Suárez to their roster just in time for the postseason. Suárez, who signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the team last offseason, had been on the injured list since June 23 due to right elbow inflammation. He recently completed his rehab assignment and is now back in the bullpen, providing much-needed depth for the Braves.

Suárez had a stellar 0.56 ERA in 31 games before his injury, making him a strong candidate for All-Star consideration. However, unlike in his previous two seasons with San Diego, the Braves did not utilize him as their closer, instead relying on Raisel Iglesias in that role after re-signing him. Together, Suárez and Iglesias form one of the best bullpen tandems in baseball and are capable of dominating teams during the final six outs of a game.

The Braves' starting rotation has some question marks heading into October, but having Suárez and Iglesias healthy will shorten the gap between the starting pitchers and the closer, making it more difficult for opposing teams to navigate the eighth inning. Suárez pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout during his rehab assignment, recording just 11 pitches.

The team will likely utilize Suárez in the Wild Card Series, which begins on Tuesday, and he may see action in the big leagues during the Braves' final five games.
