Bimbo Akintola Says Online Bullying Pushed Her To Support Tinubu

Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has revealed that online bullying influenced her decision to publicly support Bola Ahmed Tinubu during Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election. In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Akintola expressed frustration over the hostility directed at individuals who hold different political views from their critics.

She cited veteran actress Joke Silva's experience as a prime example, describing Silva's treatment as "inhumane" and severe online criticism. This incident prompted Akintola to declare her own support for Tinubu in a video, boldly stating, "I'm also supporting Tinubu, kill me, let me see if you can change my mind." Her decision was not only about expressing her own political preference but also about defending the right of individuals to have differing opinions without facing harassment.

Akintola criticized the practice of attacking people solely because they support a particular candidate, emphasizing that political disagreements should not result in bullying. She stressed that everyone has the right to their own political preferences and that these should be respected at the ballot box.
