Bihar Cabinet Approves First Women's University 'Maa Sita Women's University' In Patna

Patna: Bihar government has approved plans to establish Bihar’s first dedicated women’s university, named “Maa Sita Women’s University” in Patna. The state higher education department’s proposal was approved during a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Alongside this, 24 other proposals covering sectors like education, policing, dairy development and health were also approved.

Maa Sita Women’s University will operate under the Bihar Specialized Universities Act, 2026, with an administrative budget of Rs 15 crore allocated for salaries of staff. This new university aims to enhance higher education opportunities for female students. The cabinet has also approved the formation of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar University in Begusarai, with a similar Rs 15 crore administrative budget.

Additionally, significant funds have been approved for police modernisation, including Rs 336.85 crore for district, railway police, Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau, and equipment purchases for Lok Bhavan. Notably, 50 drones have been approved under the centrally sponsored Police Modernisation Scheme, with an investment of Rs 24.50 crore, for use in crowd control, river area operations, anti-Naxal operations and disaster management.

Furthermore, dairy development projects in Supaul, Madhepura and Saharsa under the Kosi Milk Producers Cooperative Union as part of Saat Nischay-3 have been approved.
