BDS petitions UN General Assembly for suspension of Israel's UN membership

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has submitted a petition to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) requesting the suspension of Israel's membership. This petition was released as part of the 81st session of the UNGA. The BDS addressed the petition to Khalil al-Rahman, the president of the UNGA's 81st session, requesting actions akin to those taken against South Africa during the apartheid era.

The petition is based on claims that Israel has committed severe breaches of international law, disregarded resolutions and stances from UN bodies and the International Court of Justice. The campaign also asserts that Israel targets UN facilities and staff, interferes with UN officials, committees, and experts, and violates international resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue.
