Arab anti-corruption forum discusses steps to prevent graft in public sector

Doha, Qatar - The Arab Anti-Corruption Convention's sixth session continued its focus on preventing corruption in the public sector. On the second day of the conference, discussions centered on integrity, artificial intelligence, and cooperation among oversight institutions. The event, hosted by Qatar, brought together representatives from 21 countries.

A key session, the Arab Forum for Enhancing Corruption Prevention Efforts in the Public Sector, addressed modern issues in promoting integrity and preventing corruption. Topics included codes of conduct, the use of AI in anti-corruption efforts, and the role of parliamentary councils and anti-corruption bodies in strengthening national integrity systems.

Eng. Amer Al Ali, Head of the Central Authority for Control and Inspection in Syria, discussed how Syria had benefited from learning about Qatar's approach to integrity, transparency, and anti-corruption. He emphasized the importance of openness and cooperation with friendly and brotherly countries in these fields. Al Ali highlighted several workshops held with Qatar to study its experiences, including policies, legislation, and coordination among oversight bodies.

He praised Qatar's role in supporting Arab and international cooperation in integrity, transparency, and anti-corruption, praising its efforts to facilitate expertise exchange, build institutional capacities, and strengthen communication channels among counterpart institutions.
