Anambra flood: Pupil missing as police rescue nine

A schoolchild remains missing after a flood hit a stretch of the Nibo–Isiagu Road in the Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. Police swiftly launched a search operation and rescued nine individuals, comprising seven schoolchildren and two adults, following heavy rainfall between Monday and Tuesday. According to the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the rescue mission involved Safe School Operatives working closely with community members.

However, one additional child is still unaccounted for, leading to the activation of ongoing search and rescue efforts. The state Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Ama, ordered the continued search until the missing child is found, urging residents to cooperate with the police and exercise caution in flooded areas.
