Amir’s UN speech highlights development commitment:Qatar Chamber chairman

Qatar's Amir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, delivered a speech before the United Nations General Assembly that underscored the country's dedication to regional and global stability, peace, and development. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Chamber, highlighted the Amir's commitment to dialogue, mediation, and peaceful solutions in response to ongoing political, security, and economic challenges.

The Amir emphasized the importance of regional security and good-neighbourly relations, stressing that the stability of the Gulf and the wider region is intertwined with international peace and harmony.

Sheikh Khalifa commended the Amir's focus on safeguarding international waterways and ensuring freedom of navigation, both crucial for global trade. He also noted that the Amir's speech supported the notion that dialogue and mediation are core components of Qatar's foreign policy, not isolated to specific crises. Sheikh Khalifa praised the Amir's reaffirmation of Qatar's role in fostering cooperation and bridging divides among conflicting parties, and his commitment to a just resolution of the Palestinian issue.

Furthermore, the Qatar Chamber chairman emphasized the Amir's dedication to achieving a just international order based on the rule of international law and legitimate resolutions, irrespective of selectivity. He also highlighted the importance of bolstering the role of the United Nations and multilateral cooperation. Sheikh Khalifa underscored that the Amir's focus on development, education, healthcare, security, and economic diversification aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, demonstrating Qatar's steadfast commitment to sustainable development and the building of a diversified, competitive, knowledge- and innovation-driven economy.

The chairman reiterated that Qatar's private sector stands firmly behind the wise leadership across all development, economic, and political domains, affirming that this unity exemplifies Qatar's unwavering pursuit of sustainable growth and a dynamic private sector-led economy, as envisioned in the National Vision 2030.
